Urban Trees

So this week I went out and photographed the trees in my new neighborhood. One of the things Los Angeles has a lot of are older trees growing in incredibly small spaces. In some cases the trees grow right over the sidewalk and in many you can see signs of decades of improper care and pruning. A popular tree trim around here is to slice off the upper 1/4 to 1/3 of the tree and remove all the green growth. Most trees survive the pruning but I see many while driving around that have died of shock or disease. The idea of lacing a tree is now a foreign concept.
